Another artist studio visit today, this time in the lovely village of Sinnington and Studio Milena for a shoot with Helen.
I was guided to take the footpath down the side of the cottage, through the gate and then to the studio at the bottom of the garden. What a delightful space it is – a garden where at every path turn there is something new to discover. An old building where Helen does her natural dying and then another, her studio – intimate, colourful and cosy, where she has her looms.

It was lovely to spend time with Helen not only looking at her beautiful weaving but to be reminded of many of the familiar processes that I saw my mother do years ago, not as a weaver but a knitter.

Helen is a another member of the collective of Ryedale artists, Makers of Rye, whose annual exhibition takes place at the village hall in Helen’s home patch, Sinnington.

“Ethical and environmentally considered textiles are at the heart of my weaving practice”
As well as exhibiting Helen undertakes regular teaching so do check out her website if you’d like to find out more.
