Another member of the Makers of Rye group of outstanding artists was my subject today.
I found Lyn’s studio along a stony track, on the outskirts of Kirkbymoorside. In the summer it must be amazing with views stretching out into the distance. Today though there was a chill in the air and I did wonder, on entering her huge, high ceilinged studio, what it must be like in winter. Lyn is used to it and with just a small electric heater she cracks on not only creating beautiful prints but also curtains and upholstery – her other means of income.
She balances the two and actually welcomes the contrast. The studio is dominated by an enormous table – necessary for making those full length curtains but evidence of her print-making is everywhere – the prints hanging to dry, cutting tables, rollers and inks.

I’m a mostly self taught printmaker from North Yorkshire. I live and work on the edge of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors. The slow pace of rural life here allows me to take in the wonders of the landscape and creatures that inspire my printmaking.

Do visit Lyn’s website and you can find her on Instagram too.
