With an actress friend kindly giving me a couple of studio lights in exchange for me doing some headshots of her I thought I should start practising. I bought a backdrop and set up a mini studio at home.
I’ve recently subscribed to Frames magazine and as well as the quarterly magazine they are running some Masterclasses so I was intrigued to see one about to start with Jens Mathiasson – boy are his portraits gorgeous!
I’m hoping to learn a great deal over the tutorials he will be uploading over the next few weeks but thought I’d have a go today.
But who to model?
I popped across the road to a neighbour Nancy and asked if she had some spare time to come across and she agreed! So here are the results:

Learnt loads from this – it’s just the introduction to a series of subscription videos which I’ll certainly look at signing up to at some point. I’m going to enjoy this journey into portraiture I think!
