Been going a bit stir crazy with days of terrible weather and the demands of work preventing me from doing any exploring with my camera but last Saturday I made a dash for Sandsend.
I haven’t been for a year or more but when the children were younger (and we had two labradors) it was a favourite place for a walk and a play.
Despite being late May it was pretty chilly and rain showers were predicted so parking was easy along the sea road and only dog walkers and paddle boarders were on the beach.
I had my 85mm and 25mm lenses and experimented trying to capture the intrepid boarders out at sea.
Better in black and white than colour, I particularly like the guy looking left, but no great shakes.
This duck caught my eye – my aim was to try and include the dog sign and the orange life buoy (matching the duck’s legs).
I cropped it into a square thinking I might post it on Instagram but don’t think it’s strong enough.
The sun did appear from the clouds very occasionally and suddenly the beach became a bit magical – shadows deepened and colours became more vivid – but only fleetingly.
I’d not thoroughly explored further along east from the beach but I’m glad I did as I came across a lovely little ‘hamlet’ owned by Mulgave Estates – cute little cottages, presumably holiday lets, with a stream running past and down under the road bridge to the sea beyond.
Quite a lot of failures but so good to be out and about exploring.
