I’ve recently enjoyed looking at the work of american photographer Todd Hido and, as well as watching several YouTube videos about him, bought his book ‘On Landscapes, Interiors, and the Nude‘.
I got particularly excited about his landscape images taken through his rain splattered car windscreen and decided to have a go myself. It was handy that yesterday I had some free time and it was raining.
In his book he describes his aim of not necessarily editing his photographs to be exact depictions of what he saw but more reflective of his feelings as he created the image. So he will alter colours, as he says ‘print like a painter‘. It was a miserable afternoon so I hope these images do reflect the damp, grey, chilly atmosphere of the drive out onto the moors. I enjoyed the challenge and may even print one of these!
