Just this single image created using several overlays.
I was given a book featuring the work of artist/ photographer/ sculptor David Hiscock some time ago and didn’t, at first, relate to it at all. But as I have experimented more with overlays and making cyanotypes I’m getting more into his imagery.
The one I have created above began with a couple of base layers of colour/ texture before adding and framing the portrait, then continuing to add more texture. My layered abstract portraits up to now have started with the portrait and then added textural layers on top. Insetting the portrait was inspired by Hiscock’s image entitled Sally (1983) which sadly I can’t find a digital version of to include here.
