We’re in this beautiful Basque city for 10 days before heading back to the UK. A very different vibe to Valencia – slower, more sedate and elegant. Cooler and wetter too so good preparation for home.
Not sure how I feel about the Kursaal Centre, designed by Rafael Moneo. At night it’s lit up and so looks a bit more interesting but during the day I can see why some people are not keen on it at all. Facing the Bay of Biscay the block design is aimed at emulating the rocks on the seashore.
We went to a wonderful classical concert there on our last night. The hall sits 1,800 people and it was virtually sold out. The acoustics seemed great to my untrained ear and the interior was light and airey.
