Arrived today in Deepdale, Patterdale to celebrate Rachel’s birthday with a short break away from it all.
Before Rach and I had actually arrived our son Sam had climbed and descended (ran down) Hellvellyn in under four hours. He’d left home at 7am to do it as today was going to be much better than when his friend Dan arrived the next day. He was right to do so and all our nerves of him climbing alone proved to be unfounded! Well done Sam!
Took a short walk from the cottage into the local foothills and came across some interesting photographic opportunities – old barns, seemingly empty cottage and a bit of rusty old farm equipment!
