I watched the video below, created by the excellent and thoughtful Justin Jones, and it inspired me to document the walk I was about to go on later in the day.
John Gossage’s The Pond is a photobook published in 1985. The project is a landscape narrative, shot around a derelict pond on the edge of a shopping centre in Queenstown, Maryland in 1985. The narrative of the book follows Gossage in a tour of the immediate area, and there is a certain flow to the book indicating it is intended to be viewed in order rather than as individual images. The selection of black and white images rather than colour allows us to focus on the content of the images rather than being distracted by overwhelming colours.
So I thought I’d document a journey, a walk, that I do fairly regularly. I haven’t included every shot as some were pretty dull on reflection, and these too aren’t going to get many likes if I posted them but they reflect the walk and that is all I was aiming for.
