I was waiting for my daughter to emerge from a hair salon in Pickering and next door was a vintage car showroom with a rather eye-catching hearse parked outside. With time to kill I wandered over and thought I’d look for an angle that might make an interesting photo but with just my phone I didn’t have high expectations.
As I was fantasizing about whether I’d like to make my final journey in the hearse a gentleman with a peak cap appeared and we struck up a conversation. He was wondering where the vehicle might have come from so I looked up the area code for the telephone number on the side, 01642 turned out to be the north west. We chatted a bit more and then I noticed his reflection in the screen and quickly took it before he moved off to drink his coffee.
I edited on my phone and got it on Instagram before my daughter emerged.
