I saw that it was going to be a full moon, indeed a Hunter Moon which I’d never heard of, so after dinner I headed off to Whitby. I thought I could get a picture of it, perhaps a reflection or two. By the time I got there, about 8pm, it was already high in the night sky so too late. I managed to park reasonably close to the town centre and walked along the quayside and attempted to get a shot of the moon and the lights of the town.
Standing there I struck up a brief conversation with a man out having a smoke and he said lots of photographers had been out earlier with long lenses (people who knew what they were doing!) He was a friendly bloke and I asked if he’d mind me doing a portrait of him and he immediately jumped into a pose.

Certainly the most enthusiastic street portrait I’ve ever done.
It wasn’t the most productive hour and I do feel I struggle at night seeing opportunities – perhaps a workshop is needed!
The best of a bad bunch.
