Day Two – the Lakes

Aimed to be up early this morning, around dawn, but left the house at 6.30am when the sun had been up for at least 30 mins but still a wonderful view as I left the cottage.

I headed in the direction of Hartsop. Along the way I came across a couple of old barns – one a ruin that provided an opportunity for some framing:

The other was still in good shape:

I like the way the grass on the top of the roof had an orange glow.

The path was good, past a waterfall then a drop down and along a track past a farm which had diversified into camping pods and glamping.

Hartsop is a beautiful little hamlet – it reminds me of mountain villages in Italy, where the animals once lived on the ground floor, little balconies and moss covered slate roofs.

An old oven installed in a roadside wall – possibly now used as a letterbox?

Eclectic wall decoration!

The house at the end of the lane:

Good day for walking – the rain and mist added some atmosphere. And the Lakes wouldn’t be the same without it.
