Cows in field, Fadmoor, North Yorkshire

Circular bike ride

After being cooped up all day working in my office it was great to get on my bike and do the circular loop from Kirkbymoorside to Gillamoor, then Fadmoor and down Starfitt Lane to the A170 and back home.

There were a few people sat at tables on the village green in Gillamoor but I headed to St Aidan’s Church.

I mulled over whether to have these as colour but decided black and white was better for the stone building, walls and gravestones.

This bit of road though is simple and works being nice and bright.

Some sheds looked quite dull in colour but developed a more interesting patina in black and white.

The weather vane on this house is white and was almost lost against a pale, cloudless sky.

Finally in Fadmoor it was good to see that the village pub, which has stood empty for years, is now on for sale. The sales details on Rightmove describe it:

The property is listed as an Asset of Community Value and numerous planning applications for conversion to alternative use have been rejected by the Local Planning Authority.

It’s on at £375k but I doubt anyone wants to buy and invest in it as a pub – not sure why the Planning Authority are not more flexible as it would make a nice house.

I liked the decay of the road sign and the phone box behind so kept this in colour.

Both lovely villages with lively communities that organise popular events so post COVID I’ll return and capture some local characters.
