I had a message from Sara at working saying ‘Dad do you have any autumnal photos for a company magazine?’ Delving into my Lowna files I found one or two but I took the opportunity to head out on to the hill above the house to see if I could find anything else that might be suitable.
It was a chilly but bright afternoon with the sun quite low in the sky so long shadows. I hadn’t really played much with the Ricoh settings where you can choose between standard, vivid, black and white, soft black and white, hard black and white etc so I put it into hard and black and was pleased with what I was seeing on the screen – scenes which I felt were a bit boring born out of familiarity I guess – became more dynamic.
Forgetting all about Sara’s need for autumnal images I spent half an hour so shooting in black and white. Of course when you get home and load them on the computer the raw files change from black and white into colour when they are uploaded into Luminar but most did work better as black and white.
Here’s a selection:
I then headed into the grave yard of the local church.
I did however manage to send some more colourful images to Sara who was delighted to enter them into the competition to be featured in the magazine – who knows we might win an Amazon voucher!
