Afternoon tea in Bransdale

The timing of the visit of our friend Eleanor with the monthly, summer only, cake and refreshments at St Nicholas Church was perfect. So was the weather. We started there and then headed off on a 7km circular walk.

We soon came across Bransdale Bunk House, which can be rented from the National Trust, it sleeps 12 in two bunk rooms – fairly basic and no wifi but is booked for the next few weeks.

Enjoyed meeting some sheep and discovered if you lay flat on the grass they become quite inquisitive.

Liked the look of this dead tree which I tried to frame with the stile and fence in the foreground.

When we got up higher, on to the purple heather moorland, we saw a rather odd building on the horizon.

We were told by some walkers we met a little while later it was used by shooting parties.

I liked the contrast of the fine grass on top of this sturdy stone wall.

And back to the road and the final stretch to the car.

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

  1. Love your photography Gareth .Like the fluffy cloud on top of the dead tree and your contrasting tones. I’m intrigued with empty windows against the sky and soft grasses against stone walls.
So glad you enjoyed your day out and about and that the weather was lovely.x
