Wooden fence and barbed wire, black and white photograph, North York Moors

A walk on the moorland, Shortsha Beck

I seem to always begin my blog posts with a short description of the weather and today is no exception. Except to say instead of grey and cold, today we had our first proper winter snow, well large flakes that didn’t last long but matched with some winter sunshine enough to get me out.

I didn’t realise but Rachel’s step brother, Andrew Goodall, who lives in Prague and is a mathematics professor, is also a very fine photographer. Today I tracked down his website and as a result was inspired to go out and create some images of single trees among the bracken on the moorland above Lowna. Andrew has some lovely black and white tree silhouettes as well as lots of other wonderfully creative work that I’m looking forward to exploring further.

I didn’t stick to trees as it turned out so here’s some of today’s photographs.
