An environmental portrait shoot

Abi Spence came to learn about my portrait work in an unusual way. She was visiting Kirkbymoorside to see her family and was walking the Scout’s scarecrow trail where our contribution was a scarecrow photographer (of course!)

I was away during the actual weekend event but my wife happened to be at the front of the house when Abi passed by with her son Fred. They got into conversation and Abi mentioned that she needed new headshots so my details were passed on.

Abi came this week and, rather than studio shots, she opted for the great outdoors. We headed for the hill above the town where a fallen tree I hoped would provide the look she was seeking.

Abi is a psychotherapist and undertakes outdoor therapy so as well as some standard headshots she needed images to reflect that part of her practice.

Here are just a few from our shoot:

We then went to the local church as the light there can be lovely for head shots:

Looking forward to seeing Abi and her family next month for some group shots!
