Visit to Buñol

We thought we’d take a day trip from Valencia and chose Buñol as it was a short train journey and the reviews looked like it would be interesting.

The journey out took longer as we had to make a change and got marooned at a small station (with a very long platform) in the middle of nowhere. While Rach, Sara and Ben sat chatting I walked up and down the platform trying to find some creative shots!

Thought this building a bit Wes Anderson!
Framing!

Eventually we got to Buñol. It’s famous for the Tomatina – the biggest food fight in the world where 20k people chuck tomatoes at each other but that’s in August. Today the town was very quiet, we sought out the 13th century castle.

I was intrigued by the knitted Christmas bunting
And knitted tree

After the bright lights of Valencia I think we all felt a bit underwhelmed so decided to and triy and find somewhere for lunch. I don’t think it is a very touristy town, even in the summer, so there were not many options – especially for three vegetarians. We ambled around and eventually found a cafe that made some sandwiches for us then headed out again.

It was now early afternoon, siesta time, so nothing much stirred. I’m always happy to wander aimlessly with my camera but felt the others were getting a bit impatient. I headed down a little side street that looked interesting:

A cul de sac where they’d made a big effort with their decorations – looked lovely.

Then we discovered Auditorio Municipal San Luis which was quite a surprise:

We climbed up above the entrance area above and were surprised at what we saw.

Can hold up to 2k people

Concerts must be amazing.
