Livia Wright

Portraits of a costume maker

Livia Wright is a graduate of the Northern School of Art and a member of Youth Voice. I met her back in the summer at a communications workshop we did with the NYMNP and from that developed the Youth Voice portrait project.

So Livia is the latest to take part. I met her at the Sutton Bank visitor centre where she currently has an exhibition of her work which marries her costume making skills with her commitment to the environment. Learn more about Livia’s work.

As part of her project – Reduce, Reuse, Ryevitalise – Livia collected old clothes and scrap material to make her own fabric – she also used natural dyes in a number of young ranger workshops.

After we’d completed our shots in the centre we headed to Kirkby for some studio portraits.

Livia was brilliant. Hopefully we might work together again when she is needing some costume shots.
